About Sue
My name is Sue Spicer and I’m asking for your support to win the IN-7th District House seat. I’m a Berniecrat inspired enough to winter camp in Iowa (google Paula Pink/Bernie Sanders), South Carolina and Georgia. Dedicated enough to house staffers and volunteers while working and squeezing in canvassing in our home state of Indiana. I represented as a State and National Delegate for Bernie.
I’ve seen campaigning from the human contact side. Seeking the progressive soul the majority of Hoosiers have if you ask the question right. Most of us want Bernie’s platform. A populist movement propelled not by hate and fear, but by love and compassion, respect and dignity. Let’s end this great divide by concentrating on voting in a government focused on the issues which impact our lives today and well into the future. A government interested in justice and freedom. One of pragmatism not rhetoric.
Issues
End Congressional Entitlements
Sue supports the proposed 28th Amendment. Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the U.S. that does not apply equally to the Senators and Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the U.S.
Immigration
My neighbors who stayed in 2008 helped keep our struggling neighborhood steady as the economy collapsed around us, while others fled home. My neighbors who stayed chose us. They chose the US. I feel they earned a path to citizenship.
Expand Social Security
Raise the withholding limits to include earnings over $250,000 and increase benefits to recipients.
Close corporate loopholes
Make corporations and the very wealthy pay their fair share.
End systematic racism
We must pursue policies to transform this country into a nation that affirms the value of its people of color. That starts with addressing the five central types of violence waged against black, brown and indigenous Americans: physical, political, legal, economic and environmental.
Decriminalize Marijuana
Open for medical research/ hemp production. States decide the rest. Preference to Mom & Pop operations with under 100 employees.
Trust science
Address earth changes as serious threats, not punch lines. We’ve been to the Moon. Let’s slow down climate change.
Get off fossil fuels
Promote clean energy like solar, wind and geothermal. Create local clean energy jobs for fossil fuel industry workers affected. End our corporate oil welfare.
Create more jobs
Invest in education with higher wages and smaller class room sizes, renewable energy with a more diverse power grid and 21st century infrastructure.
Rebuild our infrastructure
Repair our roads and bridges, our water and electric systems. Job creating and quality of life building.
Make college affordable
Debt relief for graduates; free tuition at public universities & trade schools. Paid for by a tiny transaction tax on Wall Street.
Re-Instate Fairness Doctrine
Return media to neutral coverage. Insure issues aired. Insure all candidates on ballot are heard.
Net Neutrality
In February 2015, the FCC reclassified broadband providers as common carriers under Title II, Title II gives the FCC the authority it needs to ensure that companies can’t block, throttle or otherwise interfere with web traffic. Title II preserves the internet’s level playing field, so let’s keep it that way.
Enact single-payer healthcare
Treat healthcare as a right, not a profit center. More in taxes, much less for healthcare = net savings. Free entrepreneurs to create jobs.
Term limits
Five 2 year terms in the House. Two 6 year terms in the Senate. Two year gap between chambers mandatory.
Get money out of politics
Sue will co-sponsor the American Anti-Corruption Act. Legislation which would make bribery illegal, end the revolving employment door, mandate full transparency for gifts and donations, includes election finance reform, all while protecting free speech.
End unfair pay
Create a livable minimum wage formulated by region with 7 year reassessments. Add a ratio between the CEO and lowest paid person on corporate grounds. Sue will co-sponsor the Paycheck Fairness Act.
